Prestidigitations are minor tricks that novice manifesters use for practice. Once manifested, a psionic prestidigitation power enables you to perform simple psionic effects for 1 hour. The effects are minor and have severe limitations. A psionic prestidigitation can slowly lift 1 pound of material. It can color, clean, or soil items in a 1-foot cube each round. It can chill, warm, or flavor 1 pound of nonliving material. It cannot deal damage or affect the concentration of manifesters. Psionic prestidigitation can create small objects, but they look crude and artificial. The materials created by a psionic prestidigitation power are extremely fragile, and they cannot be used as tools, weapons, or spell components. Finally, a psionic prestidigitation lacks the power to duplicate any other psionic effects. Any actual change to an object (beyond just moving, cleaning, or soiling it) persists only 1 hour.

Characters typically use psionic prestidigitation powers to impress common folk, amuse children, and brighten dreary lives. Common tricks with psionic prestidigitations include producing tinklings of ethereal music, brightening faded flowers, creating glowing balls that float over your hand, generating puffs of wind to flicker candles, spicing up aromas and flavors of bland food, and making little whirlwinds to sweep dust under rugs.

In addition, psionic prestidigitation can repairs small breaks or tears in objects weighing up to 1 lb (but not warps, such as might be caused by a warp wood spell). It will weld broken metallic objects such as a ring, a chain link, a medallion, or a slender dagger, providing but one break exists. Ceramic or wooden objects with multiple breaks can be invisibly rejoined to be as strong as new. A hole in a leather sack or a wineskin is completely healed over by psionic prestidigitation. The power can repair a psionic item, but the item’s psionic abilities are not restored. (For restoring a broken psionic item’s abilities, see the item creation feats in Chapter 5: Feats). The power cannot mend broken magic rods, staffs, or wands, nor does it affect creatures (including constructs).
